Sarah Hebner and Silas Gold
Before Silas Gold knew Sarah Hebner's name, he called her "Number 13"—the number on the Yankees jersey she was wearing the night they met. Silas had strolled into a bar with friends after a wedding and couldn't take his eyes off the blonde bartender wearing the No. 13 jersey. He bantered with her all evening, ordering drinks and food from no one else before finally learning her name at the end of the night, when the two exchanged business cards. Sarah says she felt an instant connection when they shook hands. In Silas' words, "Little did I know that single handshake was going to be the beginning of an amazing adventure and life with a wonderful woman who I still call my lucky number 13."
Sarah and Silas married May 6, 2011 at Frenchman's Reserve in Palm Beach Gardens. Their wedding colors were bright red and a vibrant plum, and the couple incorporated a '40s zoot suit style where they could, with top hats, a vintage car and even a dance: During the garter removal, Silas surprised Sarah by dancing to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean," first led by faux mafia-style moves to the words, "I always knew I wanted to be a gangster" from "The Godfather." "It was a phenomenal dance," Sarah says, and one of her favorite moments from the evening.
The couple honeymooned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and resides in North Carolina.
