Real Florida Wedding: Lindsay Schroeder and Drew Hoffman at Naples Botanical Garden

Lindsay Schroeder Drew Hoffman Wedding at Naples Botanical Garden

On February 20, 2016, Lindsay Schroeder and Drew Hoffman exchanged vows in front of 250 friends and family members at St. William Catholic Church in Naples, then celebrated with a garden-inspired reception at the Naples Botanical Garden. Though the couple were MBA students in Chicago when they met in 2012 and still lived in the Windy City when they got engaged nearly two years later, they chose to have their wedding celebration in the Gulf Coast city, where Lindsay grew up.

While Lindsay and Drew decided to have their ceremony in a traditional church setting, for their reception, she says, they wanted something with a true Florida feel and with the potential to be transformed into something unique. “It was beautiful, private, and tropical, and the trellis in the Caribbean Garden was magnificent!” says Lindsay of the Naples Botanical Garden. “And the tent gave us the amazing ability to create a unique space. We also really like orchids, and they have an amazing orchid garden.”

For their reception, Lindsay wanted a classic and formal look, but with a rustic garden atmosphere. “I started by deciding the color palette, beginning with champagne bridesmaid dresses and adding metallics to be the accents for a formal feel,” she says. “Then, I wanted bouquets and floral arrangements to be very green and white with touches of muted colors and also loosely arranged to achieve the garden feel.” Instead of keeping decor the same throughout, Lindsay favored variety, opting for uniquely upholstered chairs. “From there, The Garden District created brilliant designs for every aspect of the event,” she says. “They truly achieved the look we wanted with their attention to detail and the way they created intimate spaces.”

The Garden District also used a variety of tables to add interest to the party’s look. “They mixed covered rounds with dark wood squares, and they also mixed tablecloth styles,” Lindsay says. “It really made the reception feel unique, and not like a convention. We had a foyer under the tent, with couches for relaxing, a photo booth, our guest book, and photos of both of our parents on their own wedding days. It was a quiet but popular area for our guests to relax and chat, away from the (amazing!) band. We’re so happy we created that extra space!”
