Lindi Oest and Andrew Wantland
“My mom and I (and sometimes Andrew) took line dance classes a few times before the wedding so that we could at least look like we knew what we were doing when we asked our DJ to play some country line dance songs,” says Lindi. “It was a lot of fun. You cannot have a country-themed wedding without some line dancing!”
Lindi and her father made a grand ceremony entrance in a one-of-a-kind light blue old Chevy truck, driven by her uncle, Doug. During the unity ceremony, Lindi and Andrew mixed soil from each of the homes they grew up in a large Mason jar, which contained soil from the chapel they were married in. Lindi and Andrew’s favorite parts of the day included seeing each other for the first time as the ceremony began and when the officiant pronounced them as husband and wife.
From the bride: “We surprised my dad on my wedding day right after the ceremony on the chapel steps with a surprise guest. It was Dr. Karl, a recent retiree from Moffitt Cancer Center who performed esophagus surgery on my father 15 years ago. He showed up to see his walking miracle walk me down the aisle. Before he removed my dad’s cancer, he gave my dad hope by telling him that he would live to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day and that he himself would be there to see it whether he had to travel near or far to witness it. He was not kidding because after I wrote him a letter thanking him for saving my dad’s life and inviting him to my wedding, he hopped on a plane and surprised my dad. Words can’t describe how happy I was to see him there for my dad. It was a beautiful reunion!”
