Something Sweet

“A December 13, 2014 wedding is truly the wedding of the century,” gushes Jennifer Reed, owner of The Sugar Monkey in West Palm Beach. The award-winning pastry chef should know: wedding cakes are her bread and butter. Her recommendation: A 7-tier gold and fresh floral wedding cake with crystal-crusted numerals topping six tiers and the seventh wrapped in edible gold lace.

Reed recommends tying the date edibly by way of your wedding favors. Here, three artisanal treats she can customize for your occasion (please allow 4-6 weeks).

Call To Arms

“Seeing the numbers, rather than just the day itself, is what makes a sequential date so special,” says Nathalie Cadet-James, President of Luxe Fete Event Planning and Design Studio in Miami. She proposes having a family crest image designed then making it a big part of the wedding décor. “It’s the beginning of a long life together,” she says. “Memorialize it in a manner that can be passed on for generations.”

Create your own family crest here or have a coat of arms professionally designed with personalized symbols and custom statements, such as this one by artist Edman Goodrich.
